Are members of the community of christ vegetarians?
RLDS Restorationists & members of the Community of Christ in general are not vegetarians. Although they recognize the dietary code found in the ‘Word of Wisdom’ or ‘Doctrine & Covenants’ section 86 (LDS 89) they view this as advice from a loving Heavenly Father rather than as a commandment or by way of constraint. The WofW doesn’t forbid eating meat, but encourages it to be eaten only in times of famine and cold. There is also a reference elsewhere in the D&C that warns of people who forbid eating meat at all. Coming from an RLDS heritage of several generations, I’d say a great majority of RLDS & Community of Christ are not vegetarian.
