Microwaves and radio waves are a kind of electromagnetic radiation, but they lack the energy needed to break chemical bonds in cells. They are called A non-ionizing radiation to distinguish them from higher energy radiation such as gamma rays. Non-ionizing radiation has not been shown to cause the same health effects as ionizing radiation.  more
