Are Mobile And-Or Manufacture Homes a Good Alternative?
Mobile homes and/or manufactured homes do not offer the same investment opportunities as Single Family Homes and Condos etc. In California, most are located in mobile home parks. You pay space rent. On occasion you will find a park that is home owner owned where you would own the land underneath. There are senior parks and family parks and RV parks. While these homes are certainly not for everyone they do offer a great alternative for those who do not want to share walls, who likes a community atmosphere and has no interest in owning a regular home or condo or townhome. Mobile homes built 1976 and prior are called Pre HUD homes. There were no standards in place for quality of construction, wiring and plumbing. Does not mean that all homes built during that time period were built badly you just need to be aware. As regular housing you should always have an inspection performed.
