Are most penicillians resistant to staph aureus?

Most of the time Staph aureus is resistant to PENICILLIN. That is normal acquired resistance. (Not to be confused with OXACILLIN resistance which means it’s MRSA. Staph aureus is always oxacillin sensitive unless it’s MRSA.) Dicloxacillin was a poor choice to give you for a staph infection. You are right, bactrim is an excellent choice as there is very little resistance (even with MRSA!) Some other good choices are tetracycline and rifampin. My first choice to treat would be bactrim.
