As for baked, no, sorry, baked donuts are called bagels. We don’t make bagels. Donuts are, by definition, fried in oil—that’s part of what makes them so yummy, especially when they’re hot and fresh. It’s up to the baker to ensure they don’t absorb too much oil, but they do—they must—absorb some, both for flavour and texture. Do you use any animal products in your breads & donuts? Yes, but no cows were harmed in the making of these donuts. We use unsalted butter and 2% milk. We’ve heard that donuts fried in lard taste scrumptious, but we don’t go there. We fry our donuts in a common all-vegetable frying shortening. When can I get warm breads & donuts? That depends on production, and production depends on demand, and demand…. Well, the short answer is, that depends. Monday through Friday, we fry the day’s donuts from 5:30 to 7:30 am. So a short answer is, early.
