Are onion cells adapted to salt water?

onion cells are plant cells so they have cell walls. (this makes it harder for the cell to burst or shrivel up) if you were to put it into salt water, there would be a lower concentration of water outside the cell (because of the presence of salt) so in order to ‘balance out’ the concentration gradient, water will move out of the cell and into the surroundings. This will make the cell shrivel up inside their cell walls, which also means that they will wilt and ‘get closer together’ (but that isnt really phrased correctly though, because when plant cells shrivel up, they will still technically be in their structural cells, only there will be a gap between the cell walls and the cell membrane.
