No matter the differences OR similarities between orcs and zombies, whether both eat human flesh and so forth, two major differences stand out. One, a zombie is undead, and to be undead, one must have once been alive. A zombie is a corpse which returns from the soil, or a former normal human infected by a virus or curse or what have you, which takes over the body after death. (Though there should be some study done on whether or not someone bitten by a zombie and who is slowly turning into one actually dies before the mutation process, or if they switch from one condition to the other right away…but either way, zombiehood is considered “dead”.) Orcs are alive, having been created from granite and soil, as suggested in Lord of the Rings…in other sources, it may differ, but they are always living, breathing beings.
