There is no (human) nature. We are taught everything, including selfishness. People will tell you that greed is ingrained in human nature. But there really is no overarching set of rules that all humans innately understand, without being taught. If there were, babies would be greedy and try to get the upper hand on the other babies. The idea of property makes us want more. In an ideal world, we’d have access to everything, and own nothing. There would be no reason to own anything at all.
