Are razor eletric scooters illegal?
It should be OK. It’s just a skateboard with an electric motor on it. It’s no different in the eyes of the law, as an electric motorcycle for 3 year olds that you buy in Toys-R-Us. I’ve seen gas powered razors riding in NY city and the cops just watch them go by. Razors aren’t considered motorcycles, scooters, or even mopeds. If there is a helmet law for bicyclists in your area, it would be a good idea to wear a bicycle helmet. This way a police officer will take into account that you’re following the rules of the road, just as a bicyclist has to (and they can get ticketed). Call up your local police station and ask.
