Are right handed people celebrating Left-Handers Day by going left handed?
August 13 is designated International Lefthanders Day by Lefthanders International. It was first observed 13 August 1976. As its name suggests, it is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world. It celebrates their uniqueness and difference, who are from seven to ten percent of the world’s population. People who are left handed use their right brain, which appears to help in geometry, and related subjects. There also appears to be a connection between lefthandedness and intelligence[citation needed]. Sources: http://en.wikipedia.
First observed in 1976, International Lefthanders Day seeks to raise awareness of left-handedness and the challenges caused by living in a right-handed world; educate designers and manufacturers to accommodate lefthander’s comfort and safety in new products and building design; celebrate the strengths and advantages lefthanders possess and dispel the superstitions and fiction that have surrounded left-handedness in many cultures for hundreds of years and which still create prejudice today; and provide the greatest possible range of tools and equipment specifically designed for lefthanders to use, making everyday tasks easier than lefthanders have ever experienced, and making a positive difference in their lives. http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/215605/international-lefthanders-day-celebrate-your-right-be-lefthanded In this article we celebrate Left Handers Day
Lefties urged to show their hand It was once thought to be the devil’s hand, but today lefthanders are uniting to show the rest of the population what makes them special. Today is International Lefthanders Day, and righthanders worldwide are being encouraged to go leftie so they can get an idea of just how many products are designed without much thought for the remaining 15 per cent of the population. Scissors, shovels, fridges, golf clubs, mouses for computers, and doors all favour right-handers. International Lefthanders Day has been celebrated annually since 1976, when it was first declared by Lefthanders International. Sources: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/08/13/2654691.htm?
