Are sales commission discounts the same as cash?
EXCELLENT QUESTION – YES. It’s the legal way for me to reimburse you for referring business to me. In lieu of paying a seller after the transaction closes, I will discount my sales % commission up front on the listing sales contract – which clearly and legally documents my promise to you. For sellers, a commission discount has the exact same value as cash at closing.
