Are scholarship payments considered income for tax or Centrelink purposes?

Generally undergraduate scholarships are not considered income for tax purposes. All scholarships, other than Commonwealth Scholarships, are considered income for Centrelink purposes, so should be reported if you are in receipt of a means-tested income support payment such as Youth Allowance.
