Are script files platform dependant?

Not at all! Script files are ASCII files, and as such can be written using any text editor under any computer platform (you don’t even need to run the dos2unix and unix2dos utilities! ). You can write and debug a script under a Unix platform then simply use it ‘as-is’ under the windows platform.
