Are soaker hoses better for the environment versus regular watering methods?

0

Soaker hoses can be one way to water a hillside or a raised bed where slow water delivery is desired. This is a great way to conserve on water and deliver water exactly where you want it. Be aware that if your hose crosses any pathways, they will get muddy. For conservation of water a drip system might be a better choice.

Regarding being better for the environment, a soaker hose is made of rubber which is NOT biodegradable. Eventually the hose will break down due to sun exposer and will need to be thrown away. Unless you can figure out a way to re-purpose that hose it will end up in a landfill somewhere adding to our planet’s pollution problem.
