ARE THE “MERCURY” FILLINGS HARMFUL?
Amalgam fillings have mercury as a “wetting” agent. Historically these fillings have been very strong and safe. The mercury released from these fillings as a result of daily use and function is very miniscule. Although there is no scientific data to support general harmfulness of these fillings, there seems to be a shift away from the use of such material, with many European countries (Scandinavia and Germany) banning them altogether.
