Are the pupils allowed to bring in a plan, which they devised personally, when completing their controlled task?
Students are not allowed to bring in a plan to any of the controlled assessment slots, irrespective of who produced it. Each task has specific controls for access to resources: a transcript can be brought in for the Spoken Language task; a clean copy of the text for Reading task; and no materials can be brought in for the Writing task. Students should be encouraged to use some of the time allocated for controlled assessment to write a plan before they start to write their response. This can also be managed as an entire class practice, depending on the ability of a group of candidates, e.g. if a maximum of 1hr 30 is allowed for writing up the response, this could be scheduled as a 30 minute planning session with a subsequent 1 hour write up. Remember if splitting up the allocated time for a controlled task into a number of sessions, students cannot have access to this work in between sessions. All material must be stored securely in school. Students can have access to this material when
