• No. OPV does not contain any anti-fertility or family planning agents. OPV cannot cause infertility in children or adults. • All vaccines, including OPV, which are procured by UN agencies must meet rigorous quality-control specifications, which govern the exact contents used in the production of OPV and ensure the purity of the vaccine. • These specifications also ensure OPV cannot include other viruses (including HIV), steroid hormones or other materials. No agent which causes infectious, malignant or other diseases, such as HIV, is present during the production of OPV nor are such agents present in the finished product.
