Yes, it’s the Chowfan-Jexebellion! The naughty secular hound! I must admit, I find some Americans to be drowning in religious fervor. I do find it amusing but sometimes sad. I feel that sometimes you can be very naive, immature, unbalanced. Many of you, not all, have an unhealthy obsession with religion. You can see it here on Askville. I just love the “it’s true whether you believe it or not.” What terrible insecurities some people have! If you are exposed to a Christian culture, follow your parents lead, comply with what most people believe in then you will have your own ‘ready made’ beliefs. This goes for Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists etc and so on. Belief offers hope, reduces fear, gives meaning etc. This is fine if it helps you through life. It is when we get the devil/demons/hellfire threats I get mad. It is superstitious nonsense. It is the use of fear to get people to comply. It is about power.
