Are there any car racing competitions in which you can qualify for amature racing events in the UK?
You can take part in amatuer racing events at Knockhill in Fife, Scotland, as long as you have a driving license and your car passes the basic scrutineering – it doesn’t have to be road legal. The track there is a proper race track, with a long straight and some great corners, hills and cambers to contend with. “Car Racing in Scotland is organised by the SCOTTISH MOTOR RACING CLUB (SMRC) who host around seven one day meetings a year at Knockhill. In addition occasional ‘away’ meetings are organised at circuits such as Croft or Oulton Park. To join the club look up www.smrc-uk.com and download an application form. Knockhill has been appointed as the sole venue in Scotland to administer the ARDS assessment course which must be completed before applying for your competition licence.
