Are there any examinations of old environmental burdens taking place, or of coal dumps?
In order to elaborate, the technology of open-pit mining does not know the concept of dumps. Via open-pit mining, practically 100 % of the deposit is extracted and all of the coal is consumed and utilized; the best as sorted coal, and coal with a lower heating value as fuel for coal power plants. In fact, we even utilize the lowest quality coal, which almost cannot even be called coal, at our subsidiary company SD Humatex, where we process oxyhumolite salts of humic acids for products utilized in pharmaceutics, cosmetics, agriculture, and waste water treatment. Spoil banks, both internal and external, contain only inert materials from the overburden, which are not contaminated by coal, and after recultivation, we are often able to create a higher-quality landscape than that into which we entered, because the places where we mine have been subject to mining for tens to hundreds of years and are often very devastated by the previous underground mining.
