I have been concentrating (so to speak) on trying to understand spoken Japanese and haven’t delved deeply into reading yet. But I bought books on the Kanji and Kana. I started some of my studying through MIT’s OpenCourseWare and they have some useful, though not extensive, resources online for free. Take a look at these and click on the links for Kanji, Katakana and Hiragana links: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Foreign-Languages-and-Literatures/21F-501Beginning-Japanese-IFall2004/StudyMaterials/index.htm http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Foreign-Languages-and-Literatures/21F-502Beginning-Japanese-IISpring2005/StudyMaterials/index.htm
