Are there any health hazards related to memory foam use?
Memory foam is basically made out of polyurethane, and polyurethane can be combustible. Yes, it could catch fire if exposed to an open source. Because of this, government law requires that memory foam be designed to be fire resistant. While this is a good thing, exposure to high levels of the fire retardant chemicals used could pose some health problems. Also, memory foam, when new, can give out a distinct chemical odor (similar to fresh paint) that some people find very unpleasant.
