Are there any health risks associated with silicone baking sheets or silicone coated baking parchment?

Silicon is totally inert and so will not cause any poisoning or anything like that but it would not be advisable to eat or drink too much of it as it could line the stomach and intestines and prevent absorbtion of nutrients from food. You would only get dangerous amounts like this from virtually the pure chemical – the amount used in baking sheets and parchments will not harm anyone. Indeed many fats and oils produced for the catering industry have silicon added with the intention that it will float on top of the hot fat/oil to minimise the amount of frothing when frying you will take in much more from these sources than sheets/parchments but still a perfectly safe amount.
