Are there any special guidelines regarding credential files for Teacher candidates?
If you are a Teacher candidate, you are strongly encouraged to obtain an evaluation from your classroom cooperating teacher with whom you did your student teaching. If your cooperating teacher completed an evaluation for the Education department, you can request that the Education Department secretary send your evaluation to the CSO for inclusion in your file. Teacher candidates should also request a letter of recommendation from the faculty supervisor of your student teaching. Tips on requesting a letter for your credential file • Instead of approaching your writer to simply request a letter of recommendation, ask the writer if he/she can give you a good recommendation. This will give your writer the opportunity to back-out gracefully from submitting what might be a “less-than-stellar ” letter in your file. • Make your request for a letter in person.
