Are there any statistics on students forgetting stuff over summer?

I’m not sure about statistics but the fact that teachers spend the first part of the fall semester reviewing information supports the concept that children forget information they aren’t using over the summer .I believe the fact that some schools are using a modified school year ( year round school) supports the idea that students need to have information reinforced on a regular basis.A modified school yea simply means the school year extends over the entire year, regular breaks , rather than two months off in the summer.
