Are there any taboo foods in Japan?
I am a former chef and there is nothing there they will not eat and even the foreign foods introduced to Japan are pretty wide open, there is no real combination of foods they will not eat and they taste for western food is very strong, from burgers to pizza, chinese food and even Indian food is very popular now. Japanese cuisine has always utilize the entire plant or animal/fish, very little is wasted or thrown away, they enjoy dairy products, eat cereals like in the US and UK, like fried foods, pizza is very popular, but you may find some interesting toppings not seen outside of Japan.
