Are there any venomous or deadly snakes in England?

0

There are only three species of snake in England – the grass snake, the smooth snake and the adder. The adder is the only one that’s venomous, but its venom is not deadly to a healthy adult. A small child, elderly person or someone with a weak heart could be harmed by its bite, but can easily be treated with anti-venom at hospital. Bites are rare in any case – snakes are much more afraid of you than you are of them, and will normally avoid humans whenever possible. They bite only in self-defence – if you don’t mess with them, they won’t mess with you.
