I have been looking and looking and looking for a WordPress theme for my website. I work mostly with SEO agencies and they tell me WordPress is the way to go even if I don’t plan to blog. Although I’ve found some nice, clean, professional-looking themes, I can’t find a single one that follows some of the most basic usability principles. For example, all of the themes I have seen have these ‘sense of place’ issues • Although many have links that change color upon rollover, you cannot distinguish between visited and unvisited links. So, in a long list of links, you have to remember which ones you have and have not visited, which is frustrating—my memory is not that good. (Usability people call that cognitive overload) • Current page is not highlighted in persistent (global) and local navigation, so it’s often difficult, especially when entering the site on an internal page, to tell where you are within the site.
