Are There Basic Qualifications to becoming a Foster Parent?
You must be over 21 years of age. You must be earning a stable income. You must be able to pass a criminal background check. This applies to all adults living in the house. You must attend classes to prepare you to care for foster children. You must participate in a home study and home inspection process. You may be single or married. You may be a stay at-home or a working parent, but cannot be providing licensed daycare in your home. You may be of any race or ethnicity. You may be with or without your own children. You may rent or be a homeowner. You must be willing to learn about children with special needs.
