Are there different kinds of Airless Paint Sprayers?
Yes, only in the way they are made. There are two types generally offered, the piston driven pump or the diaphragm. Both work nicely. The diaphragm pump is at a disadvantage if working with thicker materials. The piston pump is based on a piston that moves up and down creating a vacuum pushing paint out into a high pressure paint hose rated for around 3000psi. It incorporates what is called packings that work in conjunction with the piston and are self adjusting. The diaphragm pump works on the principle of a piston, but in a different way. This piston moves hydraulic fluid moving the diaphragm, creating suction of the paint and through the hose and gun.
