Are there different kinds of discus?
There are only two recognized species, S. aequefasciata and S. discus, five subspecies, and about a bajillion color varieties. The five subspecies are Green discus, S. aeaquefasciata aequefasciata, Brown discus, S. a. axelrodi, Blue discus, S. a. haraldi, Heckel discus, S. discus discus, and Pineapple discus, S. d. willishwartzi The color varieties go from a pure Green, Blue, Red, etc., to striped, barred, and mottled in almost every color.
