Are there effective remedies for repelling indoor mosquitoes?

I know of no way to repel them, short of wearing stinky chemicals or burning stinky chemicals. I had to live in an apartment in Amsterdam for 3 months with mosquitoes, and it was terrible. At a store called Ikea, you can get a cheap mosquito net to suspend over your bed. This works reasonably well, but sometimes the mosquitoes end up inside the net–not sure how. There are mosquito traps that put out CO2 to attract them, but I’m pretty sure these are intended for outdoor use. They are expensive too. Even if you could use one inside, I think it might have the effect of attracting more mosquitoes through the gaps in your windows. I think your best bet is to get masking tape at a hardware store, and cover the gaps.

There are a few “sound-based” mosquito repellents out there which claim to be able to repel bugs with sound. I will include links to one of those through amazon. There are also bedcover/mosquito nets out there for travelers; these are widely used in areas where malaria is a concern. Here is an example: http://www.longroad.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.100.exe/?E+scstore The beauty of these is, you can pretend you’re in the Amazon or something, and it is kind of neat to sleep in a tent like that! Here is an article about low tech ways to repel mosquitoes. http://www.curbly.com/DIY-Maven/posts/1930-Top-1-Ways-to-Repel-Mosquitoes-Low-Tech-Style- Seems like another good bet would be placing fans around your house at high speeds; mosquitoes hate winds.
