Are There Fines For Driving Through Flooded Areas?
With the rains that have hit the valley, many drivers have had to face high waters on roadways. While officials warn drivers not to drive in high waters, many do not listen. But who eventually pays the price for these people’s decisions? This week, over and over again, many saw drivers making dangerous decisions by driving through flooded roadways. Some crept in, while others took it full speed. Few avoided the water and turned around. People are still taking the chance after months of campaigning from the Regional Flood Control District and National Weather Service. Both organizations encourage drivers to avoid driving through flood water. Betty Hollister, of the Regional Flood Control District, says “we’re trying so hard to prevent people from making those bad decisions and when we see people who have to be rescued, it’s disappointing”.
