Are there freeze plugs between the engine and the bell housing in 1995 Ford Aerostar?
yep, there sure is. There is at least one in the back of the engine block, which is inside the bellhousing. But also look closely at the back of the heads before you pull the tranny. There is a freeze plug on the back of each head, and the headgasket can also leak. Coolant can run down the outside of the bellhousing, and end up at the bottom, and will look just like it’s coming from inside the bellhousing. I’ve been fooled by that before. Fortunetly I caught it before I pulled the tranny out.
