Are there non-standard pipeline products that might be of assistance to some GI programs?

0

The pipeline may be run in non-standard ways to produce extra or different products. Time-tagged photon lists are no longer considered non-standard, but are provided to GI’s only upon request, through MAST at the same time as the GI’s other data. GIs can request other non-standard products, to be generated on a best-effort basis. These may take 6 months or more to produce, thus they may not be available until after the GI proprietary period expires. In evaluating a proposal which promises analytical difficulties, science panel members may wish to ask the PI team whether there are non-standard products which may be of assistance. Keep in mind, however, that whether or not a particular non-standard product is helpful requires case-by-case consideration, and even then there’s no way to be sure it will meet the GI’s precise needs. Producing them also poses a major personnel burden since the pipeline must be run manually.
