Some people think that Glucosamine Sulphate can help improve cell regeneration so taking this might help. Also have you considered homeopathic remedies such as Arnica which can be particularly effective in reducing the effect of trauma to tissues. Otherwise a sensible well balanced diet is recommended. As regards the weightbearing, tibialis anterior is primarily a dorsiflexor of the ankle (meaning in pulls the foot upwards as opposed to the calf which plantarflexes the foot towards the ground). I would expect the plastercast will restrict ankle movement sufficiently to reduce the strain on the tibialis anterior tendon. Walking, within reasonable limits, would be good as the gentle stretching of the scar tissue will stimulate the collagen fibres in the tendon to grow in response to the forces they need to resist.
