Are there tradeoffs among aesthetics, content, and usability?
Content, aesthetics, and usability are independent aspects of the purpose profile that defines and characterizes the business objectives of an application, especially on the Web. It is possible for all three to be considered equally important, but more often than not one or two will dominate the agenda. You can achieve all three–high usability, good content, and fine aesthetics–but you must address them in that order, and, of course, it will cost you more, at least in terms of thought and attention.
