Are there Western Philosophies that have a similar understanding of reality to Buddhism?
eastern culture and philosophies are much different than western ones the buddhist view of the “middle way” and nonmaterialism is in direct contrast to, say, christianity which has heaven and hell (good and evil) and does not really hold detachment to posessions as central to the religion. this isn’t to say one is better than the other…religions in different parts of the world were founded and developed to address the needs and mentalities of different peoples and cultures buddhism is unique in the fact that it is one of the few religions that strives to break free of suffering (their view of our world) by not desiring objects.
