Are they moving the Phoenix Coyotes to Hamilton ONT?
The final auction is on Sep. 10. Judge Baum will decide between all finalized bids (at the moment, it may just be Balsillie’s and Reinsdorf’s bids as no other bids have been announced to be near completion). Really, from the sounds of things, the Coyotes are staying in Phoenix. Unless Judge Baum decides that the Reinsdorf group’s decision to give Moyes $0 is completely unfair, Reinsdorf has everything on his side ($30 million more going to the creditors than Balsillie’s bid, approval of the NHL, the ability to make an Arizona judge look like a hero to the people who vote for him). As a final, mostly unrelated note, I think it’s a shame that Balsillie has acted with such buffoonery that he’s actually hurting the city of Hamilton’s future chances to get a team.
