Are Title Tags Important to Ranking and Placement in Search Engines?
Next to keywords contained in content/visible text, the title tag is the most important method of communicating what your site is all about to the search engines. Title tag information will show on the search engine results page and is the hyperlink to your web site. A common error in writing title tags is to use the Company Name exclusively. This is an error because Company Name is probably not one of your prime keywords. Due to the title tags importance, you must include your prime prime keywords. You may then insert company name at the end of the tag. And remember that the search engines can only store approximately 70 to 105 characters including spaces and punctuation.
