Are travelers checks accepted?
Travelers checks are accepted in your hotels in San Jose. However, it is extremely difficult to exchange travelers checks in other hotels. For this reason, we suggest that you bring a combination of travelers checks and cash to Costa Rica. When you are in Tortuguero, Fortuna, and the beach area of Jaco, it will be almost impossible to exchange your travelers checks. Only American Express travelers checks are usually accepted, and other forms of travelers checks are usually rejected in Costa Rica.
