Are young teachers to Childish?

Im 25 and this is my 3rd year teacher and I don’t feel that I am this way at all. I accept criticism in fact I ask for it but you have to remember that we are still learning and need to also hear the good things that we are doing. I have had the problem with “older” teachers or even parents telling me that the way I teach is wrong because it is different. Just because something is different doesn’t make it wrong. And because I am a young teacher I am constantly making mistakes and constantly apologizing to my students and other teachers. I use it as a teachable moment with my students and remind them that we all make mistakes and that at times we all have to own up to them and be the bigger person. I don’t know what is going on around you to ask this question, but please know that not all young teachers are this way! We may be different in our styles but most of us are all there for the same reason!
