The rules regarding selling a business are governed by the Illinois Business Broker s Act of 1995 (BBA). The Illinois Secretary of State s Office is the agency in charge of administering the BBA. Since specifics are rather complicated, more information is available from IAR s illinoisrealtor.org. Simply click on Agency and specific information relating to selling a business is Question #2. You will need to log in to IAR s web site to access this information.  more
