As a result of the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement, how will federal and territorial governments divide the resource royalties payments to Makivik?
A. When both the federal and Nunavut governments receive resource royalties with respect to the Nunavik Marine Region in a given year, the federal government will pay 50% of the first $2 million of resource royalty received that year and the federal and Nunavut governments will each pay 5% of any additional resource royalties they each received that year. In the event the federal government receives less than $2 million of resource royalties with respect to the Nunavik Marine Region, it will pay Makivik 50% of the amount it does receive. If the Nunavut government receives additional resource royalties in the Nunavik Marine Region, the Nunavut government will pay 50% of that portion of the resource royalty it received that, when added to the amount received by the federal government, equals no more than $2 million. And if the Nunavut government receives further resource revenue dollars, above the $2 million threshold, then it will also pay to Makivik 5% of that additional resource royal
