As there’s no evidence of circulating virus, there’s no need to vaccinate?
The current situation is similar to that seen in 2006 in northern Europe, when BTV-8 was first found – the following year saw a dramatic increase of new cases, with increased mortality rates in animals and production losses, causing severe economic hardship for the industry. There is no room for complacency: the industry must remain vigilant, and we urge farmers to place orders with their private vet as soon as possible.
