According to Special Marriages Act in our country, any boy can marry any girl irrespective of caste, religion or race. They can marry at the Office of the Registrar, Department of Registration after following the procedures in this regard. Both boy and girl should not come within the prohibited relationship i.e. brother-sister, mother-son, etc. Both boy and girl should be in sound mind. The girl should be above the age limit of 18 years (in case of boy, the age should be 21 years and above). It should be first marriage for each of them. Their marriage should be free and without any compulsion. Two to three witnesses are required to present and sign at the time of marriage. They may meet the Registrar and fill up the required forms and submit photo, age proof and residence proof. The Registrar office will display in notice board about the proposed marriage atleast 2 to 3 weeks before the date of marriage.
