Can a cortisone shot cause a cat to be depressed and slow?

Corticosteroids, like cortisone, can cause all sorts of side effects. I’m not sure what you mean by “slow”, but the Merck Veterinary Manual states, “Significant mood and behavioral changes have been described in humans receiving corticosteroid therapy and may be seen in animals as well.” We’ve had a number of cats need cortisone shots over the years, and the most common side effect we noticed was increased appetite; this too is normal.
