Can a dwarf pleco go in with mollies, neon tetras and tiger barbs?
The pleco should be OK, as long as it is truly a dwarf one and not just a baby. I’ve seen them mislabeled at pet stores. The regular plecos can get huge. (That doesn’t mean a non-dwarf pleco will eat the other fish — they’re bottom-suckers, as you probably know. It just means they’ll grow out of your tank.) The tiger barbs are the real problem. They’re fast and aggressive, and your neons are slow (generally just hanging in one spot) and timid. I wouldn’t put a tiger barb in with neons. The only way it might work is if you have a very large number of neons and only one tiger barb. Then the barb might be intimidated by the sheer size of the school. Neons should ALWAYS be kept in schools of at least 5 or more, by the way. Water chemistry shouldn’t be a problem. Mollies are extremely adaptive — they can live in soft, hard, brackish or even pure sea water. Neons and barbs like soft, acidic water. So keep the water soft and acidic to accommodate all. I’d go with other non-aggressive tetras
