RE the answer above: Actually, being an identical twin doesn't increase your chances at all because there is no family trait for identical twins. Yep, sometimes some families do get more than one set, but then some people win the lottery twice too. Identical twins just happen. We know how but not why, and we do know that they don't run in families. For fraternal twins, it does run in families as there can be a genetic tendency to release more than one egg. A woman who has had fraternal twins has better than average chances of having another set of fraternal twins, and any of her daughters may have increased chances too. Her sons won't, but they may pass this genetic ability to their daughters or grand daughters. So no. Unless the mother has a history, there is no increased chance, but her chances might be increased if she is older (older women sometimes release more than one egg as their fertility starts to decline - nature's last ditch effort) or if she is using some kind of ...  more
