Can a homeowner sell their home?
Yes, homeowners can sell their Habitat home. However, there are restrictions protecting the value of volunteer and donor contributions, and general affordability covenants. Springfield/Eugene Habitat retains the “right of first refusal” in all instances where the homeowner wants to sell the house. This gives Habitat the opportunity to buy the home back from the homeowner for use by another Habitat family.
